A trip to SAM

Tuesday, August 26

We had to do a cool activity which requires a person from each group to be dressed as a creature on SPOOKS ISLAND and so, I did. Just to remind you I was dressed in the dark with spooky background music which was fun!
Spot me! hint: Egg tray toenails

I had cellophane plastic wrap around my head which made me look like a queen of the Spooks Island. Those egg trays that were stuck on my body is a shield to protect myself from the creatures to make it out alive from the Island. My fairy godmothers blessed me to have three toes to disguise myself as one of the creatures. At the end of the activity I am assured that my group members had so much fun dressing me up in a garbage plastic bag, egg trays, strips of papers, and tape.

I went to Singapore Art Museum Sensorium 360 which is an exhibition of Southeast Asian and Asian contemporary art that calls upon the complexity of the human senses, and to also explore how sensory experiences locate us in understanding oneself and the world. It was very fascinating and different from other exhibition as it allows you to use your five senses and not just a typical art trip where you could only use the sense of sight.

This piece of art is made of actual hair!  :O

Mighty spaghetti and a mini trip

On Tuesday, August 19 we gathered to make a tower of spaghetti, uncooked of course. Our group decided to use stability as a key concept to our tower therefore, we made a pretty secured base. However there was a difficulty while doing this because we had to use the items sparingly to create a tall and stable tower. We were all terrified of the outcome as it may break into pieces and topple to the ground or it will stay still with the marshmallow at the peak of our spaghetti tower.

Here we were looking stressed out trying to balance the marshmallow at the peak of our spaghetti tower.

Did it fell? It did not! Applause to the mighty spaghetti we created yaaaay!!

The whole class went to an art gallery at Queen street. Here are some interesting installation we saw, isn't that fantastic?

In the afternoon we went to do a cool project which requires amazing ideas which is to be presented next week. Here are some behind the scenes images :

These are actually our modern house in the future. The house is made out of a rocket and there were pretty cool futuristic functions such as a wheelchair friendly travelator to get in the rocket house. Additionally, you can fly to outer space whenever you want to! Isn't it amazing?!

Pentatonix

14 August 2014 was the day I went to enjoy a live performance at Marina Bay Sands. After days of debating if I should go or not, I finally made up my mind to support five extremely talented people known as Pentatonix. It was held in the theater with astounding sound system and lighting which made the concert so worth it, not to mention their flawless harmonies and Mitch's high vocal range! Even though 'no photography is allowed' as per usual everyone would start snapping away and some (I did) even recorded the performance. Sadly, the lighting made it hard to capture their lovely faces :(((

Destination: MBS Theatre
Time: 7:50 pm
Feeling highly excited

This was the stage when we first walked in isn't it beautiful?!

From right: Kevin, Scott, Mitch, Kirstie and Avi

So close yet so far from stage

I was exhausted by the end of the night however, I did enjoyed myself by shouting and being obnoxiously loud. Indeed a mind blowing performance!

The other day during Creative Thinking we were given a task to create an edible food from the two ingredients our group had. The two ingredients was apricot jam and ramen noodles. Our group started off clueless because none of us would ever think of eating a combination of apricot jam and noodles! It was a moment to creatively think of ways of combining those two and making a dish out of it. We chose Noodle Jam Lasagna for the main dish, Apricot Noodle Salad for the side dish and a Frozen Compressed Cone Noodle with Jam. Yummm! We are definitely going to open up a cafe soon so look out for that! :P

Since it is the end of the weekdays I went to Eighteen Chefs with my friends for a nice meal after a long week. It was my first time trying out the food and I couldn't decide which meal I would like to try, there were so many choices of drool worthy food to eat but all of us decided to settle down with a student meal which is mandatory to take advantage of while you are still a student! Basically I had a cheese baked rice with tangy tomato based. The best thing was you could mix and match the pasta with your own preference of sauce and ingredient, isn’t that great?

We had to write down our own order which made me feel like I was doing an exam paper to be handed up to the counter to place our orders haha.
I decided to a few sausages in my bowl of cheesy baked rice which made it even more delicious.

Do ignore that bit of unglam crusted cheese
Just at the entrance of the Cathay there is a transformer statue which looks interesting.
We found Tsering with a hunk in the shopping centre :P

Celebrations

28th of July 2014, a day where all muslims celebrates after one month of fasting. Which was also a day where my mother would prepare a table full of traditional Hari Raya dishes such as 'sayur lodeh' (vegetable curry) , ketupat (rice cake) , satay goreng (grilled meat) and many more to bloat my stomach. Apparently I was too busy consuming to take photographs of all the dishes that were prepared for the special occasion. Hari Raya is also a day whereby people ask for forgiveness from the elders which is mandatory!

Personally I think that the buttery, 'melt once you consume' pineapple tarts are one of those festive cookies that is essential during Hari Raya. Unlike those past years, I did managed to help out in baking those cookies. Instead of making our own pineapple filling we bought those pre-made ones for a quicker result, with such busy schedule and loads of spring cleaning to be done for the Hari Raya preparation..why not right? Depending on the individual, some like their pineapple filling soft, some like it chewy or maybe even caramelized.

If you are wondering,  this is what I wore for Hari Raya

Back in school my group did a brainstorm on how to kill a cockroach. It was interesting to think of appalling ways to destroy them. For example, Wen Xin and Jennifer decided to get a sadistic child to enter a ball pit who was predicted to kill the cockroach haha! Also another idea was to blend it with a drink, any drink of your choice, making it into velvety-cockroachy smoothie, what a great thirst quencher especially on a humid day!

Mini celebration combination of Hari Raya and Birthday food party. Happy Birthday Claris the coconut princess!
